BLAMELESS: Held Firm to the End

1 Corinthians 1:8 "He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."

In a study of the word blameless the definition shows synonyms such as unaccused, not guilty, irreproachable, innocent, faultless, absolved and upright. The New Living Translation says the verse this way:

1 Corinthians 1:8 "He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns."

Imagine this, the Lord is saying to each of us who follow him that there will be no blame, no guilt and because of our faith in Him we will be held innocent of all sin at the end. Hallelujah! The price was huge; the price was the sacrifice of God’s only Son but he loved us so much that he did what he had to do so that we would be blameless on the day we stand before God. Jesus did not sin. He was totally innocent of sin. He was the Lamb of God who paid the price for our sins so that the Father would one day see us as innocent and clean. There will be no blame of sin placed on us at the throne of God.

As we grow in our wisdom and knowledge of the Lord and follow him each day we learn his way of living life. We are made in his image therefore his characteristics will become more and more apparent in our lives and the way we handle the good parts of life and the bad parts of life. There are days we look at the trainwrecks in our lives and know that much of the blame lies on the decisions we made. At those times we have to admit that we either did not seek the Lord first or we just did our own thing regardless of God. When life goes out of control are we to blame for how it happened? So many times, the answer is yes. Other times there is no apparent reason, only God knows. We lay it at the feet of Jesus and ask him to take care of us.

When you lay your life at the foot of the cross and put your heart and faith in Jesus you will be blameless in his eyes and the eyes of the Father. That was the plan for salvation that came to us in the form of Jesus Christ. He was God, then he was man and then he was salvation. He was always innocent and blameless of sin. He covered us with his innocent blood so we could be blameless like him for eternity.

Psalm 37:18 "The blameless spend their days under the Lord ’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever."
