Fight for the ETERNAL

1 Timothy 6:12 "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses."

Each one of us at one point in our lives learns about God, who has no beginning and has no end. He is eternal. He has always existed. How do we as human beings who live and die wrap our minds around eternal life? Forever living with God, the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit, is a promise Jesus spoke of to his disciples and the people. He taught an eternal life with the Father when we choose to believe and have faith in Jesus as the Son.

Human beings live by a clock and a calendar so understanding “eternal” is above most of us. We think about it as best we can but we cannot fully comprehend it. We follow a Savior who was eternal but then came to earth to be with his people and to pay the final sacrifice for sin. When he left earth after his death and resurrection, he again became eternal just as he had been before he was born. So, it is with us. Our spirit-soul was with the Father prior to our human birth and our spirit-soul will return once our life on earth is over. If, as the scripture states, we have responded to Jesus’ calling and accepted him as our eternal savior, we will also go home to be with Father God for all of eternity. We are all called but some choose not to respond and accept Jesus.

We may not completely understand everything about an eternal life, but we can know that Jesus will be with us then, just as he is now. Living forever, eternally in a perfect new world will be heaven.

Deuteronomy 31:8 "And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
