FULFILLED: Right on Time

Luke 4:21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

This Chapter of Luke is when Jesus was in the synagogue in Nazareth reading the scriptures to all the Jews who were in attendance. He had just read a part of Isaish 61 that was a prophesy about the coming Messiah. In this verse he has just told them that “today” he has fulfilled this prophesy. The Spirit of the Lord was upon him. Please take time to read this Chapter in Luke as it very powerfully shows that Jesus was the one who fulfilled what Father God had started. Jesus came to fulfill the words of God that he would save the people who chose to follow him and his way of living life.

Today we live in an age where almost every desire of the heart is easily fulfilled. We think about it, we want it, we do it or we get it. We book a trip to Tahiti. We climb a mountain. We buy a sports car. But many of us actually know that getting something does not always bring fulfillment or joy to our lives and our heart like we thought. We can move from fulfillment to fulfillment to fulfillment and never feel at rest, at ease, at peace or satisfied. We chase and chase after our dreams thinking every thing will be so great when we get that one last thing we have been dreaming of. We get it and suddenly there is something else popping up we think will make us truly happy.

The longer we chase after and seek the Lord the more we find that the only true fulfillment in this life will come from him. Nothing here on earth will fulfill the thirst we have inside of us like the love we get from our Lord and savior. He told the woman at the well in John 4:13-14, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Only, and positively only, through Jesus can we be filled and fulfilled. Only He completes us.

If you have dreams and seem to chase them like chasing the wind, stop and come to the feet of Jesus and be fulfilled. He will keep you safe, he will keep you at peace, he will find ways to bless you with his favor that you never dreamed of and he will love you, fill you with love for others and eventually fulfill everything for all of eternity when this life passes on.
