GIVE: A Heart of Gratitude

Aug 5
2 min read

Psalm 75:1 "We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near."

Giving is such a blessing and to be able to give thanks to our God is the ultimate gift of giving. He has blessed us and kept us in his tender loving care all the days of our lives. Only God is worthy of our total adoration for without him we have nothing.

In this world we are able to give to others of our time and talents. We can give with our finances. We can give with our love. We can give with our wisdom and knowledge. There is always a way to give. It is so important to give with your heart open knowing that sometimes there will not be anything given back. This kind of giving becomes a sacrifice.

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

When Jesus went to the cross, he gave his life for every single person who would believe in him and profess him as Christ. Over and over, he gave life to the dead, he gave healing to the sick, he gave wisdom to the troubled, he gave love to all. He set an example of how to give in every way possible.

2 Corinthians 9:7 "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

When we give from our heart the Lord sees. He smiles that his children understand that by giving, we are showing his love to others. The world hears the word “give” and automatically thinks of money. But we know that God hears that word in a totally different concept. He sees it as a way to reach the hearts of others who need help in one way or another and he sees a giver as his child doing what he did while he walked on earth. When we see and hear our children saying “Please, Thank you, You’re welcome” we know we have given them the gift of manners and kindness.

We all should strive to be the best possible giver we can possibly be and then we should say a prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord for giving us his love, his forgiveness and his promise of eternal life when we pass from this life to the next. We give you all the glory Lord God!
