PATH: One Step at a Time

Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path."

 

Do you know what path you are on today? Every day we make choices on what we are going to do and each of those choices lead us on a path. We can choose a good path or we can choose a bad or indifferent path. This verse teaches us that the Lord will be a light to us as we make these path choices. He is a lamp and he is a light.

 

We have all experienced darkness in one way or another. Actual darkness when the electricity goes off and the whole house is dark. We scramble for a flashlight and get out the candles. As little children we begged our mom or dad to leave the bedroom door open just a little, so the room was not completely dark. Then we have the dark days of trials and tribulations in our lives. Our finances are in terrible shape. We lose someone we love. We get a bad health report from the doctor. A relationship is severed. These are dark days and we long for them to end so that our hearts minds are lightened and the joy returns. Each dark path will only lead to light when the Lord brings his light into our world with hope and peace. We are unable to get off a path of destruction without Jesus because the world will not allow it.

 

Psalm 119:35 "Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight."

 

Jesus is the path. Jesus is the right path. Jesus is the good path. Jesus is the only path we need to make it through the bad days and have joy and happiness on the good days. Jesus will bring light whenever we need it and he will set us on the path that he has prepared for us and all we have to do is listen to him and obey him.

 

As we go out into the world on our path, we should always be ready to help others find their own path with Jesus. Each time we need to know that the light of Jesus will shine on us, he will guide us, he will help us chose the right words and the right actions so that the path is truly his and not ours alone. We walk a beautiful, wonderful path as we follow Jesus and his way of life.

 

Proverbs 23:19 "Listen, my son, and be wise, and set your heart on the right path:"
