POSSIBLE: Belief Changes Everything

Mark 9:23 "Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

It seems that many people today are focused on the word impossible instead of focusing on the word possible. In this verse in Mark, Jesus is telling the father of a demon possessed child that possible things can happen but require great faith and belief that our God is the God of all things possible. Is anything too difficult for God? Of course not, since He is God of all the heavens and the earth. The father of the child asked for more belief and the child was healed.

There is also a verse in Luke 18:27 that says what is impossible with man is possible with God. This is the real truth regarding what is and isn’t possible. Luke 1:37 says that there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that is impossible for God. These things that God makes possible are the miracles we see and hear about.

In life we hear about the near misses and those things that almost happened. There were times when we could have been in the middle of a car crash but missed it by minutes. There are airplanes that land safely after terrifying mechanical failure. There are those who make it out of a harrowing surgery. We have to believe that every day it is possible for it to be our last day.

Throughout the Bible there are the stories of the impossible becoming possible. People cannot live in a fiery furnace. People cannot survive hungry lions. People cannot be healed from deadly diseases. Only by the hand of God are these types of deathly situations and circumstances turned around and made possible for good. We grow up hearing about miracles and know there is aways a possibility that a miracle can happen at any time to anyone.

Jesus teaches in Matthew 17 that for anyone to believe in the possible it only takes faith the size of a teeny, tiny, mustard seed. Some days we have great faith and other days we have little faith. Those are the days we come before the Lord and ask Him to give us faith to believe in the possible and help us walk away from the impossible.

As followers of Jesus let us spread the “possible” of what He can and does do for those He loves and pray for more miracles to happen so others will also believe.
