PRECIOUS: Held in His Hands

Psalm 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants."

This word “precious” in Hebrew means valuable, costly, excellent, honorable, rare, prized. We use the word precious when we speak of a baby or puppies. We use the word precious when we talk about those we love. Precious is a word used for things we treasure.

This Psalm tells us that we are held precious to the Lord. More so when we cross over from this life to the next and He sees us as we come to stand beside our Lord King Jesus. He knows every single thing we have been through when we get there. He knows how there were times we missed the boat, fell off the wagon, did not meet God’s standards. But there we are, His faithful servants, standing there as He calls us precious. I can almost see it.

If we are held precious by the Lord Almighty after all we have done here on earth, shouldn’t we hold every single day precious? Shouldn’t we hold each moment as a gift from our Creator? But we hustle and bustle through so many days without a thought or care in the world for how precious this life is.

In Proverbs 3:13-15 it speaks of wisdom and understanding being more precious than gold, silver, or rubies and that nothing compares. Proverbs 8:11 says it again that wisdom is precious. Then in the New Testament there are scriptures that speak of the “precious blood of Christ”.

1 Peter 2:4 "As you come to him, the Living Stone – rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him –

Jesus was precious to the Father just as we are precious also. Therefore, we are each given only so many days on earth to walk with the wisdom and knowledge of the Lord and to share the Good News of Jesus to others. As we do this day by day there will soon come that day when we see Jesus and He says, “Come here my precious one!” And He wraps His arms around us with a big hug for all eternity.

How precious of a thought is that?
