PURPOSE: According to His Grace

2 Timothy 1:9 "who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,"

Needing a purpose in life is something every human has dwelling within us. As children we dream of many different jobs we might have when we grow up or the things we will do with our lives. Without a focus and a purpose our lives can run into trouble after trouble. We are just little human tops spinning round and round with no true purpose unless we hear God’s calling.

This Bible verse tells us there is a holy calling for our lives, but in the next few words it says it has nothing to do with our works. There is a holy purpose when Lord Jesus, the Redeemer of the world calls to us. He calls us so that He can fill us with His love and His words for others throughout our lives. Our response always matters and becomes a part of our godly purpose.

Each one of us was given, by God, a special purpose in each of our families and our circle of life. We were each given a purpose known by God before time began. Did you get that? Before you were born Father God called you out, set you apart, with a Holy calling so that He could use you to speak words of encouragement into that new mother who is fearful with her brand-new baby. He used you to give hugs and food to the family that just moved in next door. He used you to hold the door for the old woman at the grocery store. He uses you every time something good touches the heart of another because you responded to your holy calling of love. His purpose was shown through you.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven;}

As an extension of God’s love in this world, focus your attention on Him, His way of life, and His ultimate purpose and your life will be full.
