REFRESH: He Restores the Weary

Jeremiah 31:25 "I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint."

Who needs to be refreshed after a long cold winter? We head out into the sunshine the minute it starts warming up and stand with our faces turned to the sunlight and drink in the refreshment of the sweet bright sun. After the weariness of the dark days of winter we sprout up like little seeds needing warm ground and bright sunny days so we can grow.

But what about those cold days that still linger or pop up even after winter has passed? We cry out to the Lord because we are weary of those dark, cold days. He says He will refresh the weary. He says He will satisfy those who are ready to faint and sometimes barely hanging on. When we go before the Lord with expectations and sincerity He does hear. We can expect Him to come and wrap His arms around us and give us what we ask for. He told us,

Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."

There are times when the refreshing doesn’t come immediately and we lose heart. There are times we ask and wonder what we have done that the refreshment of our heart is still out of reach. Does that mean He doesn’t hear us or doesn’t care? No, it does not, it can mean the timing is off. Have we sat and quietly listened for His answer of how He will refresh us from our weariness? Or are we still frantically jumping around all over the place and not ready to accept His times of refreshing? If we are too busy to hear Him, are we too busy to see Him moving in our lives to bring us into His time of refreshment? Did we miss it? Maybe.

If you are weary and ready to faint, breathe and take time to be with Him. Listen for His wisdom and watch for Him to give you the exact amount of refreshing that you require for tomorrow. And then do this the next day and the next day until you can feel refreshed and ready for the journey or task He has for you.

Let Him refresh you in the way only He can. With love, with encouragement, with joy, and with all the warmth of a Father who loves His child.
