STAND: In Your Faith

1 Corinthians 16:13 "Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong."

When we think about this verse, we can almost see the soldiers standing at attention before the General. The first word though is “watch” and in a different version it says, “Be on your guard.” Those same standing soldiers are placed on guard duty during their military career. We are soldiers for the Lord Jesus who stand in this world for Him. This takes faith, courage, and strength, doesn’t it?

There are times in life when the days are so difficult that we can barely breathe let alone stand firm or stand fast. It is only when the Lord comes along side of us that we are able to endure the trial. Have you seen that photo of the footprints in the sand that tell us that Jesus is carrying us when there is only one set of footprints showing? He carries us through and He give us the ability to stand.

Luke tells us to 'Stand firm, and you will win life. ' (Chapter 21:19)

The Apostle Paul writes about the armor of God in Ephesians 6:13 saying, 'Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. '

As mere human beings we are unable to stand in the storms of life without God. We can see this in a world where so many have no relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Sadly, they are crashing and burning day after day. But as followers of God, who enables us to stand firm and fast in faith, we can come along side many of our family and friends that are wavering in the storms and help them stand.

Proverbs 10:25 "When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever."

Each day put on your armor and face the storms with gratitude for the ability to remain standing with complete faith in the one who carries us through. He never leaves us. He never forsakes us. He always loves us. He always stands right beside us.
