Psalm 139:14 "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Chapter 139 of Psalms is a beautiful explanation of who the Lord God is and how abundant His love for us truly is. He knew us before we were even born on this earth and He knows every single little thing about us. He has worked it out that we heard His call in our spirit and came to Him in faith and in love. It’s by His mighty works that we are saved and we are protected. It’s by His mercy and grace that His works are for us and not against us.
When we think about His works, we are in awe of Him. How could the God of all creation love each one of us on an individual basis? That is like asking a mother or father which child they love more than the other. Each love is different, and each love is based on the relationship formed. If we work on building that relationship it grows. If we don’t put in the time and energy the relationship does not continue to form and grow. God never let’s go of His children and continues to work in ways we see and sometimes do not see until later.
We live in a world that many times bases our worth on the amount of work we put into something. The harder and longer we work the better it becomes so we are told. But when it comes to doing the works of God in our world the only true test is whether it is done with a heart of love or done out of obligation. God is looking for a heart that works out of love not for recognition of others.
Ephesians 2:8-10 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
As we go out into the world and work for God be sure to remember all the wonderful works of His hands in the beginning and throughout each of our days to come.
