John 15:5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
Jesus loved to speak to the people in parables so that they could easily understand the lesson He was teaching. The parable of the Vine and the Branches is such an important lesson. Without the Vine there are no branches, no leaves and no fruit. Only with a Vine can any fruit be produced. The fruit of God is the people who come to faith in Him. The fruit are the believers who understand that when we come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, who He was and what He does for those who choose to come to Him, we become part of that Glorious Vine that saves. We are the branches that produce leaves and fruit and speak into the lives of those around us of His mercy, grace and love.
Father God is the Master Gardener, not only of the vine we are a part of since there are many gardens with many vines growing throughout the earth. He is the caretaker of the entire garden. He makes sure all the parts of the vine are healthy and ready to produce a harvest. He prunes off the parts of the branches that hinder the production. In the places where wounds and sickness of life have weakened the branch, He restores the broken branch and brings it back to a healthy state. Without the strength of the Vine, we are unable to remain healthy and produce the fruit of the harvest.
The Jesus the One True Vine said this:
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – the fruit that will last – and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. – John 15:16
When we stay nestled in the arms of the Vineyard Owner, we will be fruit producers. When we are one with Him and Him with us all is well in the garden. Our Eternal Vine is always with us and always pruning us when needed so we remain productive in the grand plans of God.
