WAITING on the Lord - Psalm 27:14

ree

Psalm 27:14 "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

Throughout our lives we learn to wait. Everywhere we go and in everything we do there are seasons of waiting. Often patience does not come while we wait. As little children at school we learned to wait in the lunch lines. As adults, we learned to wait in the grocery store, bank and airport lines. In our daily walk with Jesus, we wait for him to guide us and show us the paths or decisions in our lives. There are times we grow inpatient waiting on him and take matters into our own hands and many times those choices were not the one he had wanted for us.

So how do we learn to wait on the Lord? It takes years of practice and years of learning to pray. Does he always answer our prayers the way we expect? Of course not. Sometimes he says “NO” when we are hoping for a “YES”. Coming before him in a time of waiting shows we are looking for him and seeking answers from him. He knows our heart and he also knows what is best for us in all things.

In the world there is not a lot of patient waiting going on. Everyone is in a hurry for everything. In the times of today a majority think of themselves more important than the other and that their time is more valuable than that of others. It is a selfish, self-centered world in 2025. The Jewish people are still waiting for their Messiah to show up. The unbeliever is still waiting for their life to be filled with their heart’s desires. The teenager is waiting to become an adult and make their own decisions. The Senior citizen is waiting for their life to end. We are all waiting for something, at some time. Learning to wait on the Lord is imperative.

In the meantime, while we wait, be strong and be courageous. Tell others about Jesus and how he has given you hope for tomorrow as you wait for the medical results. Tell them about waiting for the miracle baby you were never suppose to have been able to birth. Tell them about waiting for the money to come when you were down to your last few dollars and the groceries were gone. Your waiting stories are your testimony to a God of faith, hope and love.

Psalm 38:15 "Lord, I wait for you; you will answer, Lord my God"
